In a world increasingly dominated by digital noise and fleeting trends, the importance of genuine expression has never been greater. Recognising this, Delhi Public School Sushant Lok-Gurugram has led the way in nurturing student voice and creativity through its TED-Ed Club. It’s a platform that not only celebrates ideas but also the young minds behind them.

On 24th and 25th July 2025, the school proudly hosted the fifth edition of My Big Day’25: From Why to Sky, a two-day festival that transformed the campus into a lively stage of ideas, innovation, and introspection. With over 200 students from Classes III to XII participating, the event became a living testament to the importance of expression in today’s education landscape, where creativity, courage, and critical thinking are no longer optional skills, but essential tools for the future.

From the moment students walked the iconic red carpet, which is now a cherished tradition, a celebration of voice and vision. Talks touched on themes as diverse as the mysteries of the cosmos, the nuances of emotional intelligence, the magic of cloud formations, and the possibilities of time travel. Each speaker brought their unique lens to the stage, sparking curiosity, empathy, and meaningful dialogue.

Guided by the passion and dedication of Neera Channan, TED-Ed Club Mentor and Programme Coordinator, the months of preparation behind each talk were as powerful as the performances themselves. More than delivering speeches, students were taught to think deeply, ask boldly, and speak honestly, a pedagogy rooted in the TED-Ed ethos of empowering learners to share “ideas worth spreading.”

At a time when children are navigating an ever-changing world, the value of platforms like TED-Ed in schools cannot be overstated. They allow students to explore their imagination, articulate their beliefs, and connect with audiences, not just as learners, but as leaders in the making.

The event was further elevated by the presence of the school’s visionary leadership. Pro-Vice Chairperson Meenakshi Singh, whose steadfast support has been instrumental in shaping the TED-Ed culture at DPS Sushant Lok, emphasised the transformative impact of student-led expression. Principal Aparna Magee, in her stirring address, noted, “Events like these remind us of the infinite potential that lies within every young mind. It is a joy to witness them soar, not just with ideas, but with confidence and conviction.”

Adding their voices to the celebration were guest TEDx speakers, Taruni Jain, Abhinandan Singh, and Sugandha Vatrana, who inspired students with stories of bold thinking, perseverance, and the importance of staying true to one’s voice.

As the curtains fell on My Big Day’25, what remained wasn’t just applause, but the quiet pride of a school that believes in the power of expression. A school that nurtures not only academic excellence but also emotional depth, original thinking, and fearless communication. Because in the end, the ability to imagine, express, and connect — that’s what truly prepares children for the world beyond the classroom.
