Giving Voice to The #MeToo Silence

Gurugram based best-selling author and leading lifestyle blogger Karan Puri recently released his book titled #MeToo, inspired by real-life incidents.

With his first book in 2012, ‘Shit Happens – Desi Boy in America’ becoming a best-seller and receiving much accolade, Karan Puri has recently released his second book #MeToo that has snippets of real life stories of sexual abuse survivors.

The author after much research delves into the deep dark stories and crevices of scars of women as well as men, rural and urban, celebrities and common people; across age groups, financial backgrounds, educational and social credentials, and most importantly, genders, to bring out the real ‘Me Too’ stories of those who shattered the silences and bared their souls to reveal the truth.

 Shaking The Societal Norms

“I was always intrigued by the relationships between men and women. Society plays a major role in shaping up a person’s mindset and it is this mindset which I wanted to change with my book. Cruelty and inhuman behaviour should be ridiculed and that is what made me share some personal stories of some sexual abuse survivors,” says Karan whose book has five such stories from contributors as young as 16 to as old as 72.

He strives that the writers of these stories are seen not as victims but as who they really are: survivors, advocates, mothers, daughters, sons, friends, bold, courageous, women, men and much more. Each of these stories are incredibly different and unique, written from a human perspective, without wearing any glasses, that perceive only women as more vulnerable, men as more callous and vice versa.

“The book illuminates the resilience of the human beings who’ve lived through the trauma of sexual violence and inspires all of us to become more evolved and compassionate in our intimate connections. Even though there have already been revolutions, we’re still not liberated and all that needs to change now. The tide must turn,” firmly adds Karan.

#MeToo is now available to buy and download on Amazon.
