Hair Blues during Monsoon


Though you may enjoy sudden monsoon showers but your crowning glory does not! The wet season brings hair blues to most, instead of experimenting with various haircare brands, check your food platter.

The secret behind your healthy, lustrous hair is not the shampoo or the conditioner but the diet you consume. To pamper your crowning glory here is a list of food to include in your dietary regimen:

1. Berries

Berries are rich in beneficial compounds and vitamins, especially vitamin C, which has strong antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help protect hair follicles against damage from harmful molecules called free radicals.

The body uses vitamin C to produce collagen, a protein that helps strengthen hair to prevent it from becoming brittle and breaking.

2. Eggs

Eggs are a great source of protein and biotin.Eating adequate protein is vital for hair growth because hair follicles are made mostly from protein. Biotin is essential for the production of a hair protein called keratin, which is why biotin supplements make popular marketing hair growth products.

Eggs are also, a great source of zinc, selenium and other hair-healthy nutrients making it a highly recommended food item to consume for overall health and hair growth.

3. Spinach

Spinach is loaded with beneficial nutrients like folate, iron, and vitamins A and C, which promote hair growth. Vitamin A helps the skin glands produce sebum. This oily substance helps moisturise the scalp to keep hair healthy.

5. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are a great source of beta-carotene. The body converts this compound into vitamin A, which is again considered nutritive for good hair health.

A lack of the right nutrients including vitamins A, C, D and E, zinc, B vitamins, iron, biotin, protein and essential fatty acids may slow down hair growth or even cause hair loss.
