GPSC Annual Conference – Changing Landscapes- Futuristic Pathways for Education
The 19th Gurgaon Progressive Schools Council annual conference on Changing Landscapes- Futuristic Pathways for Education was the latest milestone in a series of GPSC conferences organised online due to the ongoing pandemic constraints.
Mr Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Chairman CBSE graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the online conference. His words of wisdom powered by his decades-long experience engaged the listeners and the participants when he spoke candidly about the National Education Policy 2020. Speaking emphatically, Mr Ahuja focused on remedial attention to bridge the gap between the child and the curriculum.
GPSC souvenir was unveiled at the event. Aparna Erry, Chairperson GPSC, Principal, DAV Public School, Sector 14, Gurugram presented the Annual Report and spoke about the challenges in education in the 21st century.
The new age education
The growing importance of augmented and virtual reality in the future was discussed, especially considering the fast-changing world needs. To keep the audience engaged and their interest levels high, DPS, Sector 45, Gurgaon presented a symphonic Motivational Medley which included principals of various schools attending the online conference and other participants as well. Mr Harish Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, IIT Delhi, posited the idea of Blended Learning in the future.
Gathering of the learned
The conference comprised of five sessions and the first session initiated with Professor M.M. Pant’s, Law Practitioner, stimulating speech highlighting the importance of Bloom’s taxonomy and it can be replaced by Artificial Intelligence.
The second session focused on Redefining Assessment- Assessing skills in a Changing Landscape. Dr Ameeta Mulla Wattal, Principal of Spring Dales School, Pusa Road & Kirti Nagar and Ms Aditi Misra, Director Principal, DPS, Sector 45, Gurgaon meticulously discussed the dynamic subject matter of the session which holds vital roots in the education system.
The session three panellists comprising of psychologists, doctors and educators discussed the importance of Social & Emotional Learning- Creating a Supportive Learning Environment for all. The fourth session, plunged into talks on Beyond Covid 19- Embracing the New Normal. The culminating session was moderated by Ms Anita Makkar, Principal, HDFC School who delved into National Education Policy 2020- the way forward 2025.
Shri Prashant Panwar, IAS, ADC Gurgaon attended the event and acknowledged the efforts of GPSC fraternity. The attendees were impressed by the inspiring speech of Ms Arti Chopra, Secretary GPSC and Principal- Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon. She summed up the whole conference by focusing on the student and learning as an ongoing process for all stakeholders in the education system.
