GMCBL Extending Support to Fight COVID 19 in the State

The most powerful leadership tool that a leader has is to lead by example. GMCBL (Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited) CEO, SonalGoel, IAS is doing just the same. She leads the robust GMCBL organisation from the front, leading by example and her teams follow.

A slew of activities being carried out by GMCBL in Gurugram under the guidance of its CEO, SonalGoel IAS, following the Novel Coronavirus COVID 19 outbreak and lockdown. The CEO, realising great possibilities can happen through public transport, is leading unique initiatives each day to serve the community.

Donation Drive

Extending solidarity to help the Government in difficult times, the CEO SonalGoel  lead by example and donated her one month’s salary to the Haryana COVID  Relief Fund. The Chief Minister Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal, acknowledged and thanked her support in the fight against #COVID-19.

The act proved as an inspiration to the entire organisation, and team GMCBL donated twenty per cent of their March 2020 salary to offer relief to those hit by COVID-19. The outsourced staff contributed one day’s wage for the cause. In total, the organisation collected Rs Ten Lakh and Thirty-Three Thousand as donation sum. The contributions submitted to Haryana COVID Relief Fund set up in the state by the Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal.

Repurposing public transport bus

 GMCBL rising to the need of the hour is extending its support to the District Administration in tackling the challenges of current times by offering services of its to serve the needs of residents.

GMCBL buses are serving as transportation carriers of essential food commodities as a Mobile Grocery Shop from the wholesalers to the retail points and Resident Welfare Societies/public places to fulfil the needs of the residential communities. The buses are the new mobile grocery stores catering to the essential requirements of the residents. The buses reach out to residents in various areas as per their demand, and guidance from the District Administration.

Reaching to the needy

  Another initiative of GMCBL that’s much-lauded includes maintaining cleanliness and personal hygiene amongst the slum dwellers living in Gurugram to keep the threat of the virus away in the period of the Coronavirus outbreak. The drive is supported by the company’s two Concessionaires visit slum areas from time to time to distribute sanitation and personal hygiene items including soaps, shampoo, oral hygiene products, oil, comb, masks and eatables among the needy. Diverse teams of GMCBL are also distributing ration and food packets from time to time to the slum dwellers.

Ferrying migrants to shelter camps

In yet another initiative, the GMCBL team helped the stranded homeless migrant workers by extending its support to the Gurugram Police by providing buses for transportation of the migrant workers who were left high and dry on the roads due to the lockdown. GMCBL buses helped in the movement of people intra-city by facilitating them to reach relief camps/shelter homes established by District Administration, and other organisations.

 Transporting mobile health teams & patients  

Adding a new dimension to its social responsibility role during COVID-19 crisis, Gurugaman buses currently are being used for transportation of medical/ para-medical team to Coronavirus affected containment areas and hospitals and for transporting quarantine patients to hospitals and moving recovered patients after their quarantine period/discharge to drop off destinations.

Mobile Bus for Collecting Samples

​Since the ​Drive-Thru Collection​ initiative for COVID-19 samples ​started in the city, a Gurugaman bus ​modified as Mobile Bus for Collecting Samples for Conducting COVID-19 Tests​. The bus equipped with the testing facility with Technicians/Phlebotomists of Pathkind Diagnostics team moves in defined areas in Gurugram during the day on a fixed hour basis designed for the purpose.

Transporting passengers from the airport to quarantine facilities

Another initiative to help citizens was through the Vande Bharat Mission, the massive repatriation operation planned by the Indian Govt to bring back stranded Indians in different parts of the world in the wake of the Coronavirus crisis.

 GMCBL Gurugaman buses were used for the purpose of transporting Indians returning to India from overseas.

Receiving Appreciation from the Union Minister

For its incredible work, Team GMCBL received an Appreciation Letter from Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Planning and MOS (I/C) of the Ministry of Statistics &Programme Implementation, Government of India for its efforts against COVID 19
