Now, it is ready to take on a new identity as Floana Designs – free-flowing. This transformation is a testament to Meetu’s belief in the law of attraction and her experiences as a spiritual practitioner, which she incorporates into her designs.
Restoring the vintage pieces
“Over the years, I have encountered hundreds of clients, and one consistent observation stands out: no matter how delighted they were with a new wardrobe, they invariably treasured certain pieces of clothing imbued with sentimental value. These cherished items—whether an old saree, a dupatta from their mother or grandmother, or a vintage piece of fabric—held a profound emotional connection that they wished to preserve and transform into something new.
I have had the privilege of designing numerous outfits by restoring these heritage garments and reinventing them in contemporary styles. For instance, I have crafted exquisite Anarkali outfits from Kanjeevaram sarees, breathing new life into traditional fabrics while retaining their rich cultural heritage. Similarly, I have transformed vintage Phulkari baag dupattas into elegant jackets, adorned with hand embroidery and brocade patches, seamlessly blending tradition with modern fashion.
These creations are not just about fashion; they are about honouring memories and keeping the sentiments alive. Each piece I design is a tribute to the past, reimagined for the present, and cherished for the future,” she adds.
Gurugram to Goa
Floana introduces a chic and stylish line of dresses, shirts, beachwear, sarong pants, tops, resort wear, Kaaftans, and more in a variety of fabrics, catering to modern sensibilities and global tastes. We call it a Resort Collection for the Uber chic who loves to travel. The new collection has received a phenomenal response in Goa and is making waves in the wardrobes of travel bees in Gurugram and other cities.
Over two decades and a half, in the fashion Industry, Meetu has a dedicated customer base “coming from different generations,” she specifies with a smile.
